Liturgy & Liturgical Law Forum: Decree
Decree QUESTION from A. Basto on September 11, 2002 Do you have a copy of the Decree approving, publishing and declaring typica the new Third Edition of the Roman Missal?
I would like to read it, but I am not finding it.
I know that the 3rd Edition is already in force in Latin, but it would be good to see the Decree.
I assume the Decree will contain paragraphs about the conduct of translations, the entry into force of the new GIRM for all Masses of the Roman Rite, as well as about its entry into force in Latin and about the granting of recogitio for the vernacular versions.
Many websites convey only the Decrees for the first two typical Editions, together with the Apostolic Constitution Missale Romanum.
ANSWER by Mr. Jacob Slavek on September 17, 2002 Dear Mr. Basto,
This text is in Latin. I am not aware of an English translation. Also I am not aware of anyplace that has the text online in Latin.
I do not yet own this text myself so I cannot prepare my own translation.
Of course though it will be widely available when the Missal is published in English. (years from now)
Thank you, and I will remember to write you when I have my new missal,
Mr. Slavek
