The Meaning of the Miraculous Medal

The Miraculous Medal is a devotional pendant worn by many Catholics. It depicts the Virgin Mary and is believed to have been revealed to Saint Catherine Labouré in Paris in 1830. Mary appeared to Catherine and requested that a medal be made with the image of Mary and the inscription "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee" around her image.

This prayer is a reference to the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception, which holds that Mary was conceived without original sin. The phrase "pray for us" is a request for Mary to intercede on the wearer's behalf and to obtain graces from God. "Who have recourse to thee" means to seek her help and protection, as Mary is seen as a powerful intercessor and mediator with God.

The medal is often associated with the Miraculous Medal novena,  a series of prayers that are recited for nine consecutive days, asking for the intercession of the Mother Mary. It is often recited on specific days, such as the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the Feast of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, or during the month of May, which is dedicated to Mary.

About our Virgin Mary Necklaces

Our necklaces are made of high-quality metals and are available in three different finishes: gold, rose gold, and sterling silver. The gold and rose gold are crafted from a .925 sterling silver base and plated with 18k gold to add a stunning sheen.

Our process of gold plating involves applying a thin layer of gold to the surface of the sterling silver base. This is done by electroplating, which uses electrical current to deposit the gold onto the silver. The thickness of the plating can vary, but it is usually around 0.5 microns.

The benefit of our gold plating is that it gives the appearance of solid gold at a much more affordable price. It also allows for more intricate designs that would be too expensive if made entirely of solid gold. Additionally, the .925 sterling silver base is a durable and strong metal, which provides a good foundation for the gold plating.

Many of our Miraculous Medals include blue enamel in them, which represents the Immaculate Conception and the sinless state of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The color blue is often associated with Mary in Catholic art and iconography and is said to represent her purity, faithfulness, and devotion.

You can choose the perfect chain length to suit your style and comfort, with options of 16", 18", 20", and 24" available, all of which have lobster clasps.

They make a great gift for any occasion, such as birthdays, confirmations, or graduations. They also make a wonderful way to show your love and devotion to the Virgin Mary.
