Spiritual Warfare Forum: Study
Study QUESTION from Simon on November 30, 2002 Why do you think it's bad to study demonic behaviour, I don't see the problem with it, as long as you are not sucked in by any of it's beliefs/rituals, etc, etc, etc.
ANSWER by John-Paul Ignatius, OLSM on December 20, 2002 Dear Simon:
Well, undue curiosity about demons may GET a person sucked in. In fact it is how I got sucked into the occult 25 years ago.
We do need to know some things. We need to know the schemes of the devil. The Bible itself says that. If we are not aware of the devil's tactics then we are vulnerable to be victimized by those tactics.
But such study is with the specific motivation of protecting ourself against the schemes of the devil and living in accord with God.
General interest and interest in learning more than they need is dangerous and foolish.
Curosity killed the cat. And undue curiosity in this subject has actually lead to the deaths of people.
To think we are tough even to study this stuff as we wish and any way we wish and will not be effected by it, or never be sucked in by it, is an attitude that almost guarantees that one will be effected by it or sucked into it. Why? Such an attitude is arrogant and prideful. As the Bible says, Pride goeth before a fall.
