Spiritual Warfare Forum: Who are the fallen angels
Who are the fallen angels QUESTION from Anon March 24, 2001 Who the fallen angels are, and why they were caste out of Gods Kingdom.
ANSWER by John-Paul Ignatius, OLSM on May 14, 2001 Dear Mrs. Anon:
The Fallen angels are those angels who rebelled against God with Lucifer (who became Satan).
They were cast of heaven because they rebelled against God. Pride and arrogance was their sin. Lucifer wanted to be equal with God. Some theologian suggest that Lucifer was mad that God had created a creature (humans) that would be exalted above the angels. Lucifer, who was the top and most beautiful angel, could not allow himself to be considered lower than puny humans.
In any event, Lucifer refused to follow God and recruited a 1/3 of the angels to rebel with him.
He was cast out of heaven and will spend eternity in hell.
Rev 12:4, 7-9
4* His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, that he might devour her child when she brought it forth; 7* Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8 but they were defeated and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9* And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world--he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
Also, in Ezekiel 28:1-20, the reference to the prince of Tyre is thought to be a symbol and description of as Satan. These passages appear to describe the sin of Lucifer. Back to Index Page
