Bob Larson Ministries QUESTION from Heather Siwinski October 24, 2000 My sister and her husband recently attended a weekend workshop that was hosted by a man name Bob Larson. He is supposedly an expert on Demons, the Occult and how to 'exorcise' demons from people. Bob Larson told my sister's husband that he was riddled with demons and that an exorcism needed to be performed. They have since been in contact with a local prayer group that supposedly performed several exorcisms. My brother in-law has supposedly been cured of all his demons. They are now talking of selling everything and moving away to start a ministry after they have an exorcism done on my sister.
I am at a loss of what to say. Both of them are haters of the Catholic Faith and I can't say anything to open their minds. What I need is valid information on this Bob Larson person and some guidance on how to perhaps re-direct them? I'm worried my sister is being mis lead by out of context bible quotes.
ANSWER by John-Paul Ignatius, O.L.S.M. on December 17, 2000 Dear Mrs. Siwinski:
I am sorry to hear that your brother-in-law and sister are getting caught up in the exploitations of this man. But as to what you can do about it, is not much. You can try to reason with them concerning out-of-context error in Biblical interpretation, but all Protestants do that so it is hard for them to see there is anything wrong with it.
But even for Protestants, anyone with any sense can watch Bob Larson for five minutes on the TV and see him for what he is. If a person can't see that, then they are in trouble and no amount of reason will convince them otherwise.
All you can really do is pray for them. Remember prayer is the most powerful force on earth. Do not underestimate it.
We will be in prayer for them and for you.
