Faith/Spirituality Forum: Bible origin
Bible origin QUESTION from Mary on December 27, 2002 Dear Bro. Ignatius,
You recently responded to an inquiry from Brenda Alexander concerning the reason Catholics do not believe in scripture alone.
I thought your response to that and other questions asked were excellent.
Mrs. Alexander might find the book Where We Got The Bible of some use as well.
The book was first published in 1911 and was written by The Rev. Henry G. Graham, of Scotland, who felt compelled to provide a historical accounting of the development of the Bible in response to the 300th anniversary of the King James version.
Rev. Graham outlines in detail the debt the Christian world owes to the Catholic Church for giving it the New Testament and discusses the destruction of documents in the early years of the Church.
I believe copies of the book are still available on-line through Tan Publishing House.
May God Bless you and keep you in providing guidance to those of us in need,
Mary
