Mortal sins QUESTION from anon April 6, 2001 there seems to be controersey in my Church: if the subject is truely sorry can mortal sins be forgiven?

Yes, Mortal Sins can be forgiven. That is what the Sacrament of Confession is for. Venial Sins can be forgiven privately through a personal Act of Contrition, attendance at Mass, and the performance of good works in penance. Mortal Sins MUST be confessed in the Sacrament of Confession.
