Faith/Spirituality Forum: Mortal sins

Mortal sins QUESTION from anon April 6, 2001 there seems to be controersey in my Church: if the subject is truely sorry can mortal sins be forgiven?
ANSWER by John-Paul Ignatius, OLSM on July 8, 2001 Dear Mr. Anon:
Yes, Mortal Sins can be forgiven. That is what the Sacrament of Confession is for. Venial Sins can be forgiven privately through a personal Act of Contrition, attendance at Mass, and the performance of good works in penance. Mortal Sins MUST be confessed in the Sacrament of Confession.
