Divine Office Forum: Supplement to the LOH
Supplement to the LOH QUESTION from M Smith on January 23, 2003 Thank-you for your reply to my query entitled Responsories of Office of Readings in public recitation.
The supplement and lectionary I was referring to is, that one you mention in a question entitled Office of Readings Lectionary, and found at: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0899424058/legionofstmichae/ . It contains the two-year cycle. I was wondering whether it also would contain the psalm prayers.
It appears from your earlier answer that this volume is the long-awaited fifth volume (for the US translation; for the UK/Australia translation it will be the fourth). Is this the case, or is it merely a compilation by the US conference of bishops?
Thanks in advance
ANSWER by John-Paul Ignatius, OLSM on January 28, 2003 Dear Mr. Smith:
This is not really a 5th volume. It is a thin booklet of 48 pages. It is located at Catholic Book Publishers
It contains Feasts added since the last publication of the Office and those feast particular to the United States added since then.
The Supplement you linked in your question I was not aware of. I don't know what it is. I guess I will have to purchase it sometime to see.
In any event, the Suppliment contains the Offices particular to a Feast day. It will contain all the information needed for that feast. So any psalm-prayers that pertain to that Office will be included.
The psalm-prayers, by the way, are optional. They are there to help fully understand the psalm.
