Written instructions QUESTION from Frances Swank May 7, 2000 I just read one of the answers you wrote reading LOH and you may have answered my question. I belong to the Secular Order of Disclaced Carmelites. I am finding that aspirates have a difficult time learning LOH and in researching helps and or aids I can find nothing. My question is, do you know of any books or instructions on the LOH? Our Spiritual Director, Fr. Jerome said that a couple of us couple put something together following the format that we use which could be used for instruction. If there isn't I guess I will wait for your 14 pages of instructio to come out and compare it with the instructions I write up!
Thanks for your help in this area.
ANSWER by John-Paul Ignatius, O.L.S.M. on June 8, 2000 Dear Mrs. Swank:
I recommend the website http://www.liturgyhours.org as a general resource. They do publish online the actual daily Office that is approved. The Universalis site has some good info about the office, but their translation of the Office is NOT approved and cannot be used to actually pray the Office.
But for a line by line-by-line, moment-by-moment, gesture-by-gesture instruction of the Divine Office, I am afraid you'll have to wait until I can get that online.
There are so many people all over the world waiting for this 14 Session, (not 14 pages), Course of Instruction, that I may have to set other things aside and get to work on this soon.
