The Name of a Church QUESTION from Timothy M. Brauch July 14, 1999
I have heard that once a church has been named, that the name cannot be changed. I am curious about this because in my parish, the four local parishes joined to form one with a new name, Holy Spirit Parish. In doing this, they have also kept the new name for the church they are using, which was originally named St. Stephen. It is possible that they have chosen Holy Spirit Parish to be be housed at St. Stephen Church, but the only information I have come across lists the four churches joined together under the name. ANSWER by Mr. John Miskell on August 24, 1999
Dear Timothy, Thanks for your interesting question and observation. I don't know anything about this topic but you've piqued my curiosity and I'll do some research. In the meantime perhaps one of our readers has the answer. In Christ, John Miskell Back to Index Page
