music QUESTION from Michael Montgomery June 10, 1999
In one of your answers you cite a USCC source: When addressing music, all of the official documents restrict their discussion to live music and musical instruments. Recorded music is never even considered. A document generated by the U.S. Bishops' Conference says specifically: 60.The liturgy is a complexus of signs expressed by living human beings. Music, being preeminent among those signs, ought to be live... What is this source, and do you know if it is published by the USCC? Thanks for your help, Michael Montgomery ANSWER by Mr. John Miskell on June 10, 1999
Dear Michael, The document is titled Liturgical Music Today. It was produced in 1982 by the United States Bishop's Committee on the Liturgy. In Christ, John Miskell Back to Index Page
