Revised GIRM QUESTION from Nick Burn May 11, 2000 I believe a new GIRM was presented to the Pope on Holy Thursday and will be made public on Pentecost. It will supposedly clarify issues like the placement of the tabernacle that have been confounding the Church since Vatican II.
Are you able to confirm the existence of this new GIRM?

I've heard rumors that a new one is coming out soon. It supposedly addresses a number of different issues such as the one you mention, and including women during the washing of feet on Holy Thursday. Nothing official yet.
I wonder if the liturgical innovators will obey the new GIRM any more than they obey the current edition.
