The Church is not a community of the perfect, but a community of sinners, obliged to recognize their need for God’s love, their need to be purified through the Cross of Jesus Christ, said Benedict XVI Friday, celebrating Mass in St Peter’s Basilica on the Solemnity of Saints Peter Paul. After conferring the pallium on over 40 new metropolitan archbishops, the Pope recalled the history and powers of these two spiritual pillars of the Church.
