Archbishop José Guadalupe Martin Rabago

August 5, 2011
Archbishop José Guadalupe Martin Rabago is inducted into the Hall of Honor for having the courage to stand up for modesty and insist that his parishioners dress appropriately at Mass.
We are reminded of the statement of St. John Chrysostom in his Homilies on the Gospel of Matthew, written 1600 years ago, but even more pertinent for today:

You carry your snare everywhere and spread your nets in all places. You allege that you never invited others to sin. You did not, indeed, by your words, but you have done so by your dress and your deportment. … When you have made another sin in his heart, how can you be innocent? Tell me, whom does this world condemn? Whom do judges punish? Those who drink poison or those who prepare it and administer the fatal potion? You have prepared the abominable cup, you have given the death dealing drink, and you are more criminal than are those who poison the body; you murder not the body but the soul. And it is not to enemies you do this, nor are you urged on by any imaginary necessity, nor provoked by injury, but you do so out of foolish vanity and pride.

Here is the story about the Archbishop:

Mexico City (CNA) – The Archbishop of León, Mexico, is calling on Catholics to dress modestly at Mass.
If you have any respect for this place (a church), dress appropriately, Archbishop José Guadalupe Martin Rabago told reporters after Mass on July 24.
Criticism of the archbishop’s comments came after local newspapers featured photos of posters at some parishes in León that said, Respect God’s house. Don’t come dressed like this. The posters said women should not come to church dressed in miniskirts, sleeveless shirts, or low-cut blouses.
According to the newspaper Correo, the archbishop said women ought to know what they should wear and when. They know that for a wedding or a quinceañera they should dress one way, and for a trip to the beach they should dress another.
The archbishop said men need to dress appropriately at Mass as well. Some men show up at church dressed in way that is undignified, wearing shorts or sandals. The place they are in requires something else, he said.
Archbishop Martin Rabago said the media should not focus exclusively on what the Catholic Church says about how people should dress, as many evangelical churches require their congregations to come to church in a suit and tie.
He dismissed charges that his comments were misogynistic. This is not a misogynist attitude of any sort, he said. I am simply asking for the dignity and decorum that this place calls for, that is all.

Bishop Robert Vasa

July 22, 2011
Bishop Robert Vasa of Baker, Oregon is inducted into our Hall of Honor for his courageous decision to yank the title Catholic from St. Charles Hospital in Bend, OR earlier this year.
The hospital was providing surgical sterilization, a violation of Catholic teaching which states that the direct mutilation of an organ of the body and is not true health. The hospital refused to change their practice after extensive efforts of the Bishop to convince to conform to Catholic teaching. Thus, the Bishop yanked the Catholic name and insignia from the building. They were allowed to keep the Cross on the building but was reminded of their failure to live up to the challenge of the Cross.
James Deigel, president of the healthcare chain, said that the hospital had an obligation to provide comprehensive health care services to our patients while remaining true to our values of compassion and caring for all.
As one commentator remarked, and we agree, This sounds like slimy Planned Parenthood language if you ask me.
Thank you Bishop for being the Pastor Bishops ought to be.

Paula Cawte and Paul Lounds

July 2, 2011
Paula Cawte and Paul Lounds are inducted into our Hall of Honor for their courageous decision to risk the death of Paula by continuing her ectopic pregnancy. As a result of her decision she gave birth to a healthy baby.
Read the article below:

Woman with ectopic pregnancy risks life and defies the odds – gives birth to healthy baby
by Kathleen Gilbert
GLOUCESTER, UK, June 29, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Weeks after an Arizona woman gave birth to a healthy baby carried outside her womb, it has been revealed that another ectopic pregnancy – usually considered hopeless – ended happily after a British woman gave birth to her daughter, who now celebrates her first birthday.
The U.K. Daily Mail on Sunday published the story of Gloucester residents Paula Cawte and Paul Lounds, who were told by doctors that continuing to carry their daughter Eva would pose a considerable risk to Paula’s health, as the baby girl was growing outside her mother’s womb.
We had been trying for over a year to have a baby and there was no way I could terminate when I knew she was healthy, Cawte told the Mail. We knew it was dangerous. The doctors said I could bleed to death if she ruptured an organ or an artery.
But Paul and I agreed that as long as I was in no immediate danger, we continue for as long as possible to give the baby a fighting chance.
The vast majority of ectopic pregnancies implant in the fallopian tube, forcing doctors to remove the unborn child in a procedure that indirectly causes the child’s death, and that is not considered an abortion by pro-life ethicists. In Cawte’s case, Eva had a slim chance of survival because she implanted outside the fallopian tube, and the membrane of her mother’s abdomen had created a sac around her.
The parents recalled that despite their determination to carry on with the pregnancy, the news was a major blow – we both burst into tears, Lounds said. The pregnancy also caused Cawte intense pain at times.

Nicollete Soto

Nicollete Soto is inducted into our Hall of Honor for her courageous decision to risk her life from an ectopic pregnancy to allow the baby to be born.
Read the story below:

Phoenix woman refuses abortion, gives birth to baby carried outside womb
by Peter J. Smith

PHOENIX, Arizona, May 24, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A Phoenix woman who doctors feared was in a life-threatening pregnancy due to the fact that she was carrying her child outside her womb, has now given birth to a healthy baby boy.
The Arizona Republic reports that Nicollete Soto, 27, refused to consider abortion, even though doctors told her that her life was at risk.
Instead, she continued with the pregnancy up to week 32 before doctors delivered a premature, but healthy little boy, Azelan Cruz, weighing 2 pounds, 14 ounces. The name is a variation of Aslan, the name of the lion who is a central Christ-like figure throughout C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia.
We took a risk, Soto’s boyfriend, Victor Perfecto, told the Republic. We left it for the doctors to decide when to deliver the baby and God to decide everything else.
She decided, ‘I want to keep going,’ he said. All I could do is support her and be there.
Surgeons feared that the baby’s placenta may have attached to a vital organ in Soto’s abdomen, meaning that any rupture could have led to a catastrophic loss of blood. A team of surgeons was on hand for any emergency. However, doctors discovered upon delivery that the baby had attached to a spot where the fallopian tube joins with the uterus – what they call a cornual pregnancy.
The area usually does not stretch and the tube ruptures between 12 – 14 weeks. But according to the Republic, Dr. Rodney Edwards, director of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Center at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, explained that Soto’s tube just continued to stretch, allowing her to continue to carry the baby.
He also said he could not recall any case of a cornual pregnancy resulting in the successful delivery of a baby.
This is just a case that proves, in medicine, nothing happens ‘always’ or ‘never,’ Edwards added.

State of Indiana

May 12, 2011
The State of Indiana has passed legislation, which the Governor Mitch Daniels has signed into law, to de-fund Planned Parenthood in their state. We induct the state government of Indiana to our Hall of Honor for their courageous rejection of the outright and systemic corruption of Planned Parenthood. Even if one is pro-abortion, one cannot be in favor of Planned Parenthood’s collusion with child sex trafficking, sex abuse, child rape and prostitution. Planned Parenthood is a horror. No one, except an equally corrupt and evil individual can possibly support funding of Planned Parenthood.
Any politician, no matter who he or she is, local, state, or federal who supports Planned Parenthood, now that its corruption has been exposed and proven, can be allowed to stay in office. Any voter who votes for such politicians is committing a grave evil and is an accomplice in Planned Parenthood’s corruption.
We applaud the State of Indiana legislature and governor for the integrity, courage, and fortitude to do the right thing.
See a couple of news articles on this:

BREAKING: Indiana first state to cut off Planned Parenthood funding as Gov. signs billby Kathleen Gilbert
INDIANAPOLIS, May 10, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Indiana has become the first state to cut off Planned Parenthood from taxpayer assistance because of its role in the abortion business.
Governor Mitch Daniels, a potential contender for the 2012 GOP presidential ticket, signed on Tuesday a measure to block public funds from going to organizations that perform abortions, depriving Planned Parenthood of an estimated $3 million in both state and federal funds.
According to the Associated Press, Planned Parenthood of Indiana has promised to take to federal court to seek a temporary restraining order and injunction Tuesday against the new law.

And from Lila Rose:

ROSE: Hoosier daddy now?by Lila Rose
WASHINGTON DC, May 9, 2011 (Washington Times) – The results we discovered in Indiana were particularly shocking. I posed as a 13-year-old girl impregnated by my 31-year-old boyfriend and seeking a secret abortion so no one would find out about the abusive relationship. Faced with this clear case of sexual exploitation of a minor, Planned Parenthood’s Bloomington clinic nurse told me, I didn’t hear the age, OK? I don’t know the age and coached me to tell anyone who asked about my boyfriend, He’s 14 and in your grade, or whatever. On the same day, the Planned Parenthood counselor in the Indianapolis abortion clinic told me, I don’t care how old he is and coached me on how to keep the sexual relationship with the 31-year-old a secret from my parents. Both clinics advised going to abortion centers out of state to skirt Indiana’s parental consent law.

Pope Benedict XVI

June 15, 2010
The tyranny of liberalism has laid waste the Church for over 100 years. Pope Benedict XVI has now said enough is enough. For his call (and warning) to bishops and priests to shape up and fly straight we induct Pope Benedict XVI to the Hall of Honor.
Here is the story reported by LifeSiteNews:

Pope Warns World’s Priests Against Heresy
By Hilary White
VATICAN CITY, June 11, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Sin, satanic influence and the toleration of heresy lie at the root of the priestly sexual abuse scandals, Pope Benedict XVI said today. Precisely because it is an institution erected by God to make himself sacramentally present to all men and women, the devil is interested in destroying the priesthood, he said.
Referring to the line in Psalm 22 (Your rod and your staff – they comfort me), Benedict became explicit about the need for the rod of discipline to correct errors in the Church.
The Church too must use the shepherd’s rod, he said, the rod with which he protects the faith against those who falsify it, against currents which lead the flock astray.
Today we can see that it has nothing to do with love when conduct unworthy of the priestly life is tolerated. Nor does it have to do with love if heresy is allowed to spread and the faith twisted and chipped away, as if it were something that we ourselves had invented.
Pope Benedict spoke today to 15,000 priests at the closing Mass of the Vatican’s Year for Priests at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
The priesthood, Pope Benedict said, is not pleasing to the ‘enemy,’ (the devil).
He would have rather preferred to see it disappear, so that God would ultimately be driven out of the world. And so it happened that, in this very year of joy for the sacrament of the priesthood, the sins of priests came to light – particularly the abuse of the little ones, in which the priesthood, whose task is to manifest God’s concern for our good, turns into its very opposite.
With evident personal sadness, the pope again extended his apology to the victims of sexual abuse, saying, We too insistently beg forgiveness from God and from the persons involved.
This was followed by a promise to do everything possible to ensure that such abuse will never occur again by more scrutiny and better formation of those who apply for the priesthood.
Statistics on the abuse scandals have found that the abuse cases are overwhelmingly homosexual in nature and occurred between the 1960s and 1980s, at time in which psychological and theological trends were against excluding men with homosexual inclinations from the priesthood.
Benedict, as Cardinal Ratzinger, was clear with a 2005 document issued from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the office that had oversight on the abuse scandals around the world, that men with such inclinations should not be admitted to seminaries.
Benedict also made more subtle references to the movement from the Church’s extreme left wing to open the priesthood to women and to married men. Among the opening lines of his homily, Pope Benedict laid out the nature of the priesthood, saying it is not a matter of mere functionality but a sacramental reality derived from Christ himself.
The priest is not a mere office-holder, he said, like those which every society needs in order to carry out certain functions.

Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computers

May 19, 2010

We applaud him on his views and company policy in this manner.

LifeSiteNews reports:

Steve Jobs Says iPad Revolution Means ‘Freedom from Porn’
by Peter J. Smith
CUPERTINO, California, May 18, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computers, says his company will not be a party to the pornography industry and hopes that the iPad and iPhone revolution will help lead to a porn-free world.
Jobs reiterated his position in a heated e-mail exchange with Ryan Tate, a writer for Gawker.com, which follows news and gossip in Silicon Valley and elsewhere. Tate, who admitted that he was home alone and slightly inebriated at the time, took issue with a television ad calling the iPad a revolution and fired off an e-mail to Jobs.
If Dylan [American songwriter Bob Dylan is one of Jobs’ favorite musicians] was 20 today, how would he feel about your company? Would he think the iPad had the faintest thing to do with ‘revolution?’ Revolutions are about freedom, Tate wrote, not expecting a response from Jobs.
However, Jobs did respond to Tate, triggering an e-mail duel. Yep, freedom from programs that steal your private data. Freedom from programs that trash your battery. Freedom from porn. Yep, freedom, responded Jobs. The times they are a changin’, and some traditional PC folks feel like their world is slipping away. It is.
However, Tate accused Jobs of imposing his morality by having Apple forbid pornographic applications for iPad. I don’t want ‘freedom from porn.’ Porn is just fine! And I think my wife would agree, fired back Tate – who later said he regretted mentioning his wife.
Jobs shot back, You might care more about porn when you have kids.
Apple’s CEO pointed out that competitor Microsoft has the right to make whatever rules it wants on its platforms; developers who do not comply simply go elsewhere, and can do the same with Apple.
We’re just doing what we can to try and make (and preserve) the user experience we envision, said Jobs. You can disagree with us, but our motives are pure.
In an exchange with customer Matthew Browning posted by Techcrunch.com in April, Jobs had defended Apple’s crusade to keep pornography off its products.
We do believe we have a moral responsibility to keep porn off the iPhone. Folks who want porn can buy [an] Android phone, he said, referring to the product of competitor Google, which has permitted a pornography store app for its smartphone.
Apple’s iPad and iPhone do not offer complete freedom from pornography – objectionable material can still be accessed via the Internet, and may be attainable through iTunes – but most pornographic clips cannot, since they require Adobe Flash products, which Apple refuses to support for a variety of reasons.
Clearly opposed to pornography, Jobs surely realizes he can’t make it go away completely, commented Sam Diaz, senior editor of ZDNET, last month. But he doesn’t have to contribute to the spreading of it – especially in a place where children often shop using a technology that many parents still don’t understand well enough to police.
Apple requires application designers to adhere to a company policy that could be described as pro-family: The iPhone Developer Program License Agreement (sec 3.3.17) states that applications may be rejected if they contain content or materials of any kind (text, graphics, images, photographs, sounds, etc.) that in Apple’s reasonable judgment may be considered obscene, pornographic, or defamatory.
Gawker reported that Apple twice rejected the app Gay New York: 101 Can’t-Miss Places because of its inclusion of obscene and pornographic imagery.
Apple began a major crackdown on app designers in February, purging objectionable apps that may have fallen through the cracks.
