Did God step in for me to help me avoid demonic activity? QUESTION from Marie on December 28, 2002 Am I imagining things? Coincidence? Or.....Ok, I was about to do some major backsliding on something I had promised myself and God that I would stop doing. As I was picking up the phone to proceed with my plans, a girl comes over by me and says Well, I am doing great today all thanks to The Man Upstairs - in fact I wouldn't have made any money today if it weren't for him
I knew who she was talking about. But, this is the LAST girl I would ever have expected to talk about our Lord or what he does for her. In fact, I was under the impression this girl was living a bit on the wild side. Anyway, the minute she brought him up (I had obviously tried to put my promise to him out of my mind at the moment) I hung up and ended up talking to her about her belief in the Lord.
I really feel this was God helping me through a weak moment because I was really feeling low and was about to give in to something bad.
Does he really do this or did my conscience kick in? I think he knew I was about to weaken and wanted to help me stay strong.

Yes, God does do this. He is a wonderful Father who cares for his children and will always give a way out of temptation. He will not force us of course, but He has a great way of doing the kind of thing He did with you to remind us to behave.
One of the greatest promises of God recorded in the Bible is:

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Thank God and praise Him, Marie, that he used this coincidence to help you to avoid temptation.
