Dreams QUESTION from Jacob on May 31, 2002 Hello,
I was wondering if you would be able to interperet a dream I had a few nights ago. I was standing in an open grass field and there were two children standing in front of me. I don't know how I knew their names, I just did. Their names were Damien and Joshua. They were both dressed in white clothes and were arguing. They each had a small sword and began to fight. It then changed and the boys were adults. They were sitting on two horses, One was white and one was pale grey. They began to race, still holding their swords. I then woke up.
Any interpretaion of this dream would be much appreciated.
ANSWER by John-Paul Ignatius, OLSM on June 6, 2002 Dear Jacob:
Dreams are usually the unconscious creatively coping with anxieties, worries, stress, thoughts, etc. that one has during the waking state.
Dreams can also be developed from things that one might have been thinking during the day, from a movie, or song.
The interpretation, if one is to be had, is often more a function of what the dreamer thinks it means that what some other person thinks.
There is not much to go on with your dream, but it looks to me to be perhaps a reference to the White and Pale Horsemen talked about in the book of Revelation. Have you been thinking about, or been exposed to information about Revelations lately?
The white and pale horses could also represent good and evil racing against each other. Are there struggles in your life concerning doing the right thing and temptation to do the wrong thing?
Especially since there is not much to the dream, one would have to interview you in the context of a counseling session to see what is going on in your life that might have precipitated this dream. Or it may just be a dream.
What do you think it means?
