Spiritual Warfare Forum: Tarot

Tarot QUESTION from David Lindsay on April 7, 2002 Father - over twenty years ago, living alone and uncertain how to get my life together, I visited a professional psychic: she made a series of very accurate forecasts - precise, not the vague all-purpose predictions indulged in by 'cold' readings.
Sufficiently impressed I visited another tarot reader, an elderly lady, and struck up a friendship with her that lasted through the years. She is, essentially, kindly and well-meaning. She, like the first psychic, has proven to be remarkably accurate in a lot of her readings: this is the trouble.
The readings got incredibly bleak and have, for the last five or so years been a cause of real anguish. A little late in the day I came to realise that ALL readings are harmful - they bypass a trust in God; they separate us from those we love; they, frankly, appeal to our worst weaknesses. In other words their source is contaminated - evil.
My question is this, although I have completely renounced the practise, the anxieties about the future remain. How do these creatures/demons/whatever get to know our futures so well? Are our lives, in any way, predestined?
ANSWER by John-Paul Ignatius, OLSM on April 20, 2002 Dear Mr. Lindsay:
My question is this, although I have completely renounced the practise, the anxieties about the future remain. How do these creatures/demons/whatever get to know our futures so well? Are our lives, in any way, predestined?
Demons do NOT know your future. God ALONE knows the future. It can seem like demons know your future for two reasons:
1) we create a self-fulling prophecy. We have been given the prediction of our future and on a sub-conscious basis we make decisions in our lives that brings us to fulfill the prophecy that we were told.
2) demons know you VERY WELL. Because they know you and your life well, they can make very accurate predictions on how you will behave or how you might end up in five years.
We can do that too, in a limited way. Husbands and wives are often able to predict what their spouse will do in the future because they know their spouse so well, logic and reason can make predictions based upon past trends and behaviors. Well demons know us better than any human can know us. Only God knows us better.
I would ask God to take away your anxieties. Remember Matthew 5 -- the Sermon on the Mount -- do not worry for tomorrow for tomorrow will take care of itself.
Remember, God loves you, and He will help you to overcome these anxieties.
As for predestination? We are NOT predestined in the sense that we have no free-will and cannot make decisions. The future is not written in stone. The decisions we make today will influence the future and the decisions we make at the time will determine what happens. Our Free Will shall be the deciding factor on what happens to us. Today is today, and tomorrow is tomorrow. Tomorrow is a new day.
