Spiritual Warfare Forum: Astral projection
Astral projection QUESTION from James Michael on November 8, 2001 My son is a freshman in a catholic high school. As part of his religion class his religion teacher sometimes uses the following technique for prayer time: the students close their eyes and imagine their spirits rising up above their bodies and then rising up into the heavens. Is this a valid form of prayer or meditation in the Catholic tradition? Is this astral projection? Is it dangerous?
Thank you, and God's blessing on you.
ANSWER by John-Paul Ignatius, OLSM on February 10, 2002 Dear Mr. Michael:
Oh my! This teacher should be fired.
This visualization does facilitate astral projection and is VERY dangerous.
This is NOT a valid form of prayer or meditation from Catholic Tradition.
If I were you, the first thing I would do is forbid my child from participating. Second, I would talk to the teacher about this and if the teacher does not stop this activity, then file a complaint with the principal.
If that does not work, then file a complaint with the school board, and then the bishop.
This sort of activity must stop.
