Spiritual Warfare Forum: Waking speech
Waking speech QUESTION from John Miner October 25, 2001 Hello, I have had a couple of experiences recently that are troubling me. I'm thinking it might have something to do with my recent conversion, and nearing confirmation. Twice I have caught myself waking up and talking, like I was finishing a sentence, and I stop talking when I realize I am fully awake, but I am waking SAYING something and am still verbalizing it when I'm waking. It's scary stuff. I've thought of putting a tape recorder (or video camera?) by the bed overnight and leave a light on, and see if I'm speaking a lot like this while I sleep. The things I was saying weren't something I would say while I was awake.
A few weeks ago I was waking and talking about a demon. Just recently I was waking up with the words, Father, Luc... and I stopped but my mind completed the word, ifer. Now in the past before my conversion, I listened to openly satanic music, and always had a fascination for demons. I didn't know why, but I watched movies that had them involved, and would talk about them often. With my confirmation fast approaching, I find myself falling into certain troubling sins which are seeming impossible to cease, and this recent, waking talk is DISTURBING me to no end!
I've been praying more than I ever have in my life, but recently have been missing Mass more often, and my prayer has faltered. I don't know what to do and feel I might be being attacked spiritually.
I'm grateful for any advice you may have. Thank you!
ANSWER by John-Paul Ignatius, OLSM on February 1, 2002 Dear Mr. Miner:
It is highly possible that you are being disturbed by the enemy because of your upcoming confirmation. Satan does not like people advancing in holiness and spirit toward God.
I would suggest browsing through the Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog for appropriate prayers that might be useful. There is a prayer in there for bedtime protection.
