Faith/Spirituality Forum: New Mass Order versus Old Latin Mass
New Mass Order versus Old Latin Mass QUESTION from Raymond X. Michael January 22, 2001 Is the New Mass Order valid? Is hand communion to be frowned upon?
Could a review be done on the validity of claims expounded by the following articles found on a so-called Catholic Apologetics website? I find it very disturbing to read such claims, especially when other articles in the same website appear sincere in Catholic apologetics. Here are links to some of the disturbing articles:-

I hope to get at least some minimal response to my queries.
ANSWER by John-Paul Ignatius, OLSM on March 19, 2001 Dear Mr. Michael:
Yes, the Mass commonly known as the Novus Ordo is valid. And the Novus Ordo is ALSO a Latin Mass. Latin is STILL the official language of the Mass.
Any Catholic who says the Roman Missal of 1970 or 2000 (the so-called Novus Ordo) is not valid has ceased to be a genuine Catholic and are under risk of the sin of schsism (in which was they are automatically excommunicated).
Communion in the hand is not the preferred method taught by the Church. It was allowed in the United States basically as a indulgence to the grossly immature people of this country. The Pope had bigger battles to fight and as it is with parenting, one must choose their battles.
However, communion in the hand is only suppose to be allowed if and when the people are properly catechized about the Eucharist and it can be assured that abuse or carelessness does not occur.
Communion by mouth is the normitive method in the Church, but, technically, those in the United States anyway (I don't know about other countries) may communicate by hand if they wish.
I did not post all the links you included in your question as I do not wish to promote the rebellion and dissention those links represent. And I will not waste my time refuting the claims of rebels.
The Roman Missal of 1970, and the new Roman Missal of 2000 are totally and completely valid because the Church says so. Case Closed. The opinions of these people are not worthy of consideration.
The Mass should be called the Roman Missal of 2000. Novus Ordo is a term of derision used by the wackos who think the current Mass is invalid. We need to avoid their divisive rhetoric.
