ANSWER by John-Paul Ignatius, O.L.S.M. on September 7, 2000 Dear Mr. Joe:
You need to meet the requirements necessary for absolution... that is to confess your sin, by contrite of heart (offer contrition) and promise a firm amendment (repentance). Then the priest can absolve you of your sin and you perform whatever penance he gives you.
