Greek NT QUESTION from Ray A March 3, 2000 Hello-
My question has to do with the Textus Receptus manuscript of the New Testement, and it's history. Where does it originate, and how accurate/authentic is it? Also, i'm attempting to learn Greek on my own, and i'm looking for a good Greek/English NT to study from, and it seems that the most popular version around today is the Greek New Testement by Nestle-Aland. From what i gather, this is derived from the Textus Receptus, hence my curiosity as to the TR's capabilities. Is the TR a sanctioned manuscript of the NT in the opinion of the Church? If not, or even if so, would you know of any other Greek NT's that would be suitable for a Catholic to use in his studies?
God Bless

Since your question has to do specifically with Scripture, I am transferring your question to the Scripture and Sacred Tradition Forum.
