Liturgy & Liturgical Law Forum: Remain keeling after communion
Remain keeling after communion QUESTION from Ken June 4, 2001
After the priest returns the Holy sacrament to the Tabernacle, closes the doors and draws the veil close some parishioners then sit while others remain kneeling. What is the correct position?
ANSWER by Mr. Jacob Slavek on June 10, 2001
Dear Mr. Ken,
In 1974 Rome stated in Notitiae that the posture for this time is optional. There is no significance that the tabernacle has been closed. A priest may not insist one posture over another at this time.
It is MY OPINION that kneeling is the most appropriate posture for this time, yet keeping in mind that there are many bad knees that will begin to hurt.
Mr. Slavek
