Canadian Lectionary QUESTION from Debbie Chandler November 22, 2000 I have heard that the Canadian Lectionary has not been approved by Rome for use in the United States --- yet my parish continues to use it. I have stopped lectoring because of this. What steps can be taken to have this lectionary removed from my parish? Our pastor has said that it is optional....

The Canadian Lectionary is not approved for use in the United States yet some places persist in using it. I'm not even sure if the particular Lectionary in question is even approved for use in Canada. I think it was proposed for use but rejected by the Vatican.
Ask your pastor to show you in writing where it's optional. You can write to your bishop but I wouldn't hold out much hope for a change. Prayer is your best weapon.
