Kneeling after the Agnus Dei (Again) FOLLOW-UP from John Miskell February 12, 2000
Dear Readers, There was a question about the correct posture to assume after the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God). I was surprised to learn that there is a variety of practice throughout the U.S. and Canada. Some parishes stand but it appears that most kneel. The General Instruction of the Roman Missal views this time as a period of personal preparation of the priest, and bids the faithful to the same action. The General Instruction does not delimit this time-period, nor specify what particular posture is appropriate or not. It is therefore left to the local Ordinary to decide the proper posture if he so chooses. Your servant in Christ, John Miskell Back to Index Page
