- Exorcists The following Exorcists are in good standing with the Church and their Bishops and publicly known. We only list an exorcist if he is publicly known as many exorcist choose not to reveal their appointment to the public. Father- Gabriele Amorth Father Amorth, former Chief Exorcist for the Diocese of Rome, was born in Modena, Emilia on May 1, 1925. He was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1954 and became an official exorcist in June 1986, in the Diocese of Rome, under the tutelage of Candido Amantinim and is the former Chief Exorcist for Rome. He is a member of the Society of St. Paul, the congregation founded by James Alberione in 1914. In 1990, he founded the International Association of Exorcists and was president until he retired, at 75, in 2000. He is now honorary president for life of the association. Father Amorth claims to have performed 160,000 exorcisms between June 1996 and May 2013, roughly corresponding to 5925 exorcism per year (16 exorcisms per day). We find that Father Amorth tends to exaggerate and make careless statements seemly- without thinking- at times. Nevertheless the vast experience of Father Amorth over more than 27 years as an exorcist is useful in the training of exorcists and deliverance counselors. He is the author of- An Exorcist Tells His Story- and- An Exorcist: More Stories.- We use these books in training deliverance counselors in our St. Michael Academy for Spiritual Warfare and Deliverance. - Father Jose©- Antonio Fortea Father Jose© Antonio Fortea is a priest of the diocese of Alcala de Henarea (Madrid) in Spain and an expert in the field of demonology. An approved exercise of his diocese, is conducted numerous exorcisms and lectures on this topic throughout the world. In 1998, he successfully defended his thesis for licentiate degree in theology, entitled Exorcism In the Present Age, under the direction of the Sec. of the Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith of the Spanish Bishops Conference. He is the author of the book,- Interview with an Exorcist: And Insiders Look at the Devil, Demonic Possession, and the Path to Deliverance. We use this book in training deliverance counselors in our St. Michael Academy for Spiritual Warfare and Deliverance. - Father Jose Francisco C. Syquia Father Jose© Francisco Jocis Syquia, Director of the Archdiocese of Manila Office of Exorcism, - hails from a wealthy family. Second to the eldest son of the late Ambassador Enrique Syquia and his wife, Letica, he and his four brothers grew up in North Forbes Park, Makati City. Father Syquia entered the seminary in 1989 and completed his training from both San Carlos Major Seminary and the University of St. Tomas (UST) Central Seminary where he finished his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, as well as his Masters in Psychology. He also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sacred Theology from the UST Ecclesiastical Faculties and a Licentiate in Spiritual Theology from the Angelicum in Rome. He finished both courses with magna cum laude honors. Father Syquia served as a consultant in the Commission on Visions and Phenomena of the Archdiocese of Manila. Presently, he is the Director of the Archdiocese of Manila Office of Exorcism. He is also a full-time formator, spiritual director and professor at the San Carlos Major Seminary. He is the author of the book, Exorcism: Encounters with the Paranormal and the Occult. Unfortunately, this book is not available for sale in the United States. Father Chad Ripperger- Father Ripperger, from the Diocese of Tulsa, is a leading expert in the area of spiritual warfare. His education and first hand experience- make his presentations highly informative and interesting. He always provides a plenitude of insights into the Catholic faith and traditions that give any listener an abundance of information on which to meditate. He is a teacher and mentor for priests in training in exorcism Monsignor John - Esseff Msgr. John Esseff is an exorcist for the diocese of Scranton, Pennsylvania. He has been an exorcist for over 40 years. {Website} Father Vincent Lampert- Fr. Vincent Lampert is the designated exorcist for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. He trained at the North American College in Rome and has assisted on over 40 exorcisms with- longtime Italian exorcist Father Carmine De Filippis. Father Gary Thomas- Father Gary Thomas is the mandated exorcist for the Diocese of San Jose, California. He was mentored in Rome by Father Carmine De Filippis.- His training was the subject of the 2010 book The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist by Matt Baglio and the 2011 Hollywood movie based on the book, The Rite starring Anthony Hopkins. {more listings forthcoming} -
