Episcopal Bishop Marc Handley Andrus
Episcopal Bishop Marc Handley Andrus, two days after another Episcopal bishop, Gene Robinson, participated in a civil union and church blessing with this male partner, issued new directives for his diocese suggesting that same-sex couples pursue civil unions first, followed by church blessings. In his letter he writes, I welcome the ruling of the California Supreme Court affirming the fundamental right of all people to marry. I am writing to you now to recommend a path to use this decision to strengthen our support of our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered sisters and brothers, and our continued witness to God's inclusive love. In doing so, Bishop Andrus has abandoned Christian teaching and calls for his church to glorify sin by blessing homosexual unions and as such is inducted into our Hall of Shame. Do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor practicing homosexuals nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). It seems the Episcopal Church is now reaping what its founder, Henry VII sowed when he split with the Catholic Church over the issue of the sanctity of marriage. It is no surprise that a denomination born in sin has degenerated to such an unabashed rejection of Christian teaching, and therefore, Christ Himself. He who listens to you listens to me; he who rejects you rejects me; but he who rejects me rejects him who sent me (Luke 10:16). Source: Episcopal Bishop ‘Downgrades’ Marriage
