Prayers in front of abortion clinics QUESTION from Glenn Hitchcock on October 28, 2002 Bro. John-Paul Ignatius, OLSM
Currently, there is a series of prayers we use in front of abortion clinics which includes the St. Michael Exorcism prayer that Pope Leo XIII wrote. I gather that we should stop using this prayer immediately. If so, what prayer would you recommend using in its place. Can we use the modified St. Michael Exorcism prayer (no imprecatory commands)? Other deliverance prayers?

I presume you are taking about the long St. Michael prayer and not the short one often said after Mass.
You are correct, that long St. Michael prayer cannot, under any circumstances be said without modification.
For one thing there is a phrase in the prayer that refers to the ministry of a priest. Obviously non-priests cannot say that phrase since they are not priest.
Beyond that, the imprecatory commands found in the prayer need to be modified.
