Non-Catholic Participation in Catholic Confession QUESTION from Mr. Dave Smith October 26, 1999
I recently read an interview in our local Catholic paper of a college student in an RCIA program who made her first Confession a full 6 months before her upcoming Confirmation. This was done during a youth retreat. Is this a practice that is acceptable in the Church? It was my understanding that an RCIA program must be complete before receiving the Sacrament of Confession immediately prior to Confirmation. Am I wrong? Where can I find the guidlines or Church laws governing this? ANSWER by Mr. John Miskell on October 27, 1999
Dear Mr. Smith, As my area of expertise is limited to liturgy, pro-life issues, and apologetics, I haven't a clue. Perhaps one of our other experts or maybe one of our readers could help. Yours, John Miskell Back to Index Page
