Pictures During Mass QUESTION from caroline October 24, 2000 Our city's paper is doing a story on our pastor. The photographer took pictures of him ALL during mass, with the exception of communion distribution. Our lay liturgical coordinator did not know about this, and afterward (after several upset parishioners called her) she called the pastor, who said he found nothing disturbing about it at all. Can you tell me where the line should be drawn? At the VERY least I felt like it was an inexcusable lack of respect for the mass.
ANSWER by Mr. John Miskell on October 25, 2000 The pastor is right. The paper was doing a special story and therefore needed the pictures. We see photographers at Mass on many occasions, especially at weddings. I get distracted by the photographer even when they are trying to go about their business as quietly as they can but thankfully we don't have to endure them on a regular basis.
In Christ,
John Miskell
