Wedding ring QUESTION from Christina Owens October 3, 2000 I have a friend who got married in the Catholic church. His wedding band was blessed during the ceremony. Since then his marriage has been annulled. What is the proper way to dispose of the wedding ring since it is a blessed object.

A wedding band is one kind of the hundreds of sacramentals that are used by Catholics. I not aware of a specific rule regarding their disposition other than using a bit of common sense. Throwing it away would be silly. He might keep it, gift it, sell it or even have it made into something else. Earlier this year I had a jeweler melt down my wedding band and mix it with better quality gold and make a new one. It's beautiful.
