The Gospel Paraphrased QUESTION from Vickie Newell May 14, 2000 Greetings! I attended a Mass where the priest did NOT read the Gospel, he stated A story according to Jesus and then proceeded to paraphrase the Gospel!!! I won't go into all the other abuses; my question is whether the Mass I attended was invalid? Thanks and God Bless you!

What you describe makes this Mass illicit but valid.
