Concerning Marriage and Sexuality

Concerning Marriage and Sexuality

God created man and woman

God created man and woman in His own image (Genesis 1:27-28). He created and ordained marriage for one man and one woman to come together in one flesh (Genesis 2:21-25). The Catechism explains:

1603 “The intimate community of life and love which constitutes the married state has been established by the Creator and endowed by him with its own proper laws. . . . God himself is the author of marriage.” The vocation to marriage is written in the very nature of man and woman as they came from the hand of the Creator.”

Even if a person is called to celibacy (which means to be unmarred) and thereby required to be chaste, he still has this knowledge deep in his DNA, deep in his soul, of the proper nature of marriage.

Marriage is a Covenant, a Sacred Sacrament

This bond of marriage is not a contract, it is a living covenant between the couple and with God. The dignity and holiness of this relationship is such that God raised it to the level of a Sacrament.

The purpose of this sacred union is defined in the Catechism:

1601 “The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.”

The Blind Will Not See

But, people who have been blinded by the Truth and had their consciences seared, will not agree with this. That is to be expected for God warns us, through St. Paul, in Romans 1:18-32,

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of men who by their wickedness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. Ever since the creation of the world his invisible nature, namely, his eternal power and deity, has been clearly perceived in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse; for although they knew God they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking and their senseless minds were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man or birds or animals or reptiles.

Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever! Amen.

For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error.

And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct. They were filled with all manner of wickedness, evil, covetousness, malice. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity, they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God’s decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them but approve those who practice them.

This passage applies to more than homosexuals. It applies to all who have exchanged God for atheistic secularism and materialism, improper sexual pleasures, to  all the pleasures of this world, and to self.

Concerning Marriage

As it pertains to this essay, the Oblates and Missioners of St. Michael, and all its websites and apostolates, affirm and agree with God and His Church:

  • there is no such thing as homosexual “marriage and never will be
  • no such thing as changing one’s sex as biology determines this no matter what mutilations people do to themselves
  • there are only two sexes — male and female

Mandate for our Apostolates

Discussions to the contrary are not allowed on our discussion forums, comments to blog entries, email, and anywhere on our websites, as such denial is denial of the infallible word of God.

Vitriolic responses in protest of these Truths and our mandate constitute intolerance and hate speech, which is typical among the left.
